I'll Be BackBack From a Hiatus

I took about a week hiatus from VB Notebook For .NET while I was working on my other, general topic, blog, OpTempo, and another yet-to-be-released web project but I’m back working on this site now. I just need to figure out a good way to do ‘re-runs’ the next time I take a break or work on other projects.

Coming Up This Week

I’ve got my follow-up article on coaching that I should publish this week as well as a few follow-up and new article and demos. If you have a topic you would like for me to cover, let me know in a comment or email.

Busy, Busy, BusyTrying to Keep Things Balanced

I’ve been working hard on my new "anything goes" speed blog, OpTempo, but I’m trying to keep the quality up here as well. I may not post quite as frequently here over the next few weeks, but I’ll make every post count. I’ll at least have one general programming article and two tutorial or code example articles a week plus my weekly VB.NET Interview Questions and Link Round-Up columns.

Coming Up Next Week

With any luck I’ll publish my follow-up article on coaching on Monday. I also have an overview article on Interfaces that someone requested just about ready as well. If you have a topic you would like for me to cover, let me know in a comment or email.

Guest Blogging on AjaxNinja

Aaron at AjaxNinja asked me to write an article for his website with my suggestions for someone who’s just starting a career in programming. He’s posted it this evening: How to Jump Start Your Programming Career. Check it out and let me know what you think.

BlogRush Sucks!New Computer In The House

I’m switching over to a new computer over this weekend, a HP Pavilion a6200n. Since it has Vista Home Premium installed on it I’m going to give it a try although I’m wondering just how much isn’t going to work quite right. Now I’m trying to get all my settings and software onto the new system. Fun, Fun.

OpTempo - My New Blog

I wanted to branch out from just blogging about VB.NET and software development topics but I didn’t want to hurt the focus of this site. So, I started a new “anything goes” blog, OpTempo. If you get a chance, check it out.

TTZ Media

I’m trying out ads from TTZ Media right now in the header position. I wasn’t that happy with with WidgetBucks look and feel and the load and down time. Remember, if you want to advertise here on VB Notebook for .NET you can buy this header banner space.

BlogRush

Yes, BlogRush Sucks. That is all.

Coming Up Next Week

I’m still looking into coaching material and trying to put together an article. If all goes as planned I’ll have a guest post on AjaxNinja on Monday on starting a programming career. I’m tossing around some ideas on XML and ADO.NET but I’m still trying to narrow them down. If you have a topic you would like for me to cover, let me know in a comment or email.

Be our GuestGuest Blogging

Aaron of AjaxNinja has asked me to guest blog on his site and, if we work out the logistics, my article should appear over there sometime in the next week or so.

If you would like to guest blog here on VB Notebook for .NET about VB.NET or general software development practices, please send me an email with your proposed idea. I’m always open to doing this.

WidgetBucks and BlogRush

WidgetBucks is a brand new advertising program I’m trying out. We’ll see how it goes but it doesn’t look too promising so far. I’ll probably give it another week or two or until someone decides to buy my header banner space.

If you’re the type that scrolls way down the page you may have noticed that I’m giving BlogRush a second chance. A fellow blogger suggested that I try it again since they’ve weeded out a lot of the spam. It still doesn’t give very relevant results or bring much traffic but doesn’t seem spammy or hurting anything so I’ll leave it way down there for now.

Coming Up Next Week

It was suggested that I look more deeply into to coaching team members since last week’s article only scratched the surface so I’ve been researching this topic some this week. Maybe I’ll have an article on this prepared soon. I’m still working on narrowing down some ideas on ADO.NET, XML, and Web Services. I am open to requests, so if there is a topic that you would like for me to cover, let me know in a comment or email.
